The class includes rituals that honor Mother Earth and her gifts. Bear Mountain Inn is honored to host a weekend class making a hoop drum and rattle taught by Maine Artist and craftsman Judy Bullard. Judy's hoop drums have been used in drumming circles for healing and enjoyment. She uses all natural materials to make her hoop drums and rattles. Her desire is to share her love of nature through teaching traditional crafts in classes and workshops. Judy's intent is to honor the Earth by deepening our awareness and appreciation of natures abundant gifts and by caring responsibly for our Earth home.

Judy has been making drums since 1993. She has taught many others, including the leaders from the Tanka Center in Israel, to make them. She makes her drums with reverence and care, honoring the ancient tradition and the animal which has given itself to the drum.
